AMAA’s 2022 Medical Mission Team’s First Day in Yerevan

Today we had a full day of fun sightseeing and team bonding! We began at the Mother Armenia Monument that offered a stunning view of Yerevan. From there, we visited the Armenian Genocide Museum and Memorial. Although tears were shed, our hearts grew increasingly aware of the weight of Armenia’s history and our ties to it. After that, we made our way to have lunch and celebrate our teammate, Allison’s, birthday at the Ayntab restaurant. With full stomachs, we enjoyed a scenic drive to the Keghart Monastery and walked the steep slope up to the worthwhile and breathtaking historic site.

Then, we continued onto the village of Karni where we were able to see the Karni Temple, enjoy some freshly made lavash, and eat a wonderful dinner while taking in the beautiful views. From there the team headed back to Yerevan and we finished our day with some ice cream at the city’s center! We look forward to exploring more of what Armenia has to offer and will be setting up our first clinic tomorrow evening so stay tuned!
